More than 650 flights in and out of Denver International Airport were delayed as of 3 p.m. Friday afternoon due to thunderstorms, as much of the eastern part of Colorado was placed under a Tornado Watch.
Of the 650-plus delays, 44% were Southwest Airlines flights, 29% were SkyWest flights and 16% were United Flights, according to the website FlightAware.com .
Flights arriving into DIA have been delayed an average of 1 hour and 26 minutes, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Despite the high number of delays, only 21 flights in or out of DIA had been fully cancelled as of 3 p.m., according to FlightAware.
