ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany arts community received funding on Friday. County leaders presented grants to 28 local arts organizations during a ceremony at the Albany Institute of History and Art.
The recipients include local theater companies, art galleries, public organizations, historic preservation groups and more. Officials said the funding totals $729,161.84 and isn't simply about investing in the arts, but it also supports the community as a whole.
"If they have someone come there, they might buy a coffee next door, they might go to the restaurant next door, or go shopping in Albany or Colonie, or wherever it's at, it will be supported across the county," Albany County Exec. Dan McCoy said. "It is going to be an economic driver. So our investment, by far, we'll get back."
