JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ark. – Officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said that a person is dead following a Friday evening plane crash.

Personnel with the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Association received a call at 6:18 p.m. about a crop duster crashing in the area of Swan Lake, Arkansas.

Officials said that the pilot of the aircraft was also reported to be dead.

Deputies with the JCSO along with troopers from the Arkansas State Police alongside firefighters and medical personnel responded to the call.

Officials said that deputies located the pilot and confirmed they were dead, their identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The release said that there were no other occupants of the aircraft, and no one was injured on the ground.
