Middletown discus thrower Myles Berry was the lone athlete to repeat as an event champion on day one of the meet held at Monroe-Woodbury High School on June 4.
Berry threw the discus 160 feet, 7 inches, to win the event by more than nine feet, easily securing his spot at the state meet. Berry threw 158-9 to lead the 2024 qualifier. It was the best winning throw since Robert Detz of Chapel Field threw 164 feet in 2015.
