SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WSMV) - An investigation is underway after a deputy fatally shot a suspect while responding to a domestic incident in Allen County, according to the Kentucky State Police.

KSP said preliminary investigation shows that deputies with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Shockley Road for reports of a domestic disturbance at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

When deputies arrived on scene, they were met by a man, identified as Joshua Stanka, armed with a gun.

At some point during the encounter, a deputy fired his gun, hitting Stanka, KSP said. Stanka, 42, of Brownsville, KY, was pronounced dead at the scene.
