TUCSON, AZ (AZFamily) — Federal immigration agents mistakenly detained a deputy U.S. marshal in Tucson, officials confirmed on Friday.
According to a statement from the United States Marshals Service, the deputy marshal matched the “general description” of a man that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were looking for and was detained at a federal building in the Old Pueblo.
The case of mistaken identity didn’t last long. Officials said the detainment was brief and the deputy marshal’s identity was “quickly confirmed” by other law enforcement officers. He was released and left the building without any other trouble.
The U.S. Marshals Service didn’t say when the incident happened or who the deputy marshal was.
