WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) - A 48-year-old Watertown man is facing charges after allegedly evading police before crashing into a tree just feet away from residence on Thursday.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, Anthony Belden was charged with resisting arrest and unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle. He was also given 15 traffic tickets along with reckless driving, speeding and other moving violations.

Authorities said that Belden, who had an active probation violation warrant, was in a parked car at a State Street business around 11 a.m.

A deputy approached Belden's vehicle attempting to make an arrest. However, Belden allegedly drove off.
