Porterville Mayor Greg Meister, who has took on the state on a number of issues, has done it again as this time he has written a letter opposing the state's new Low Carbon Fuel Standard, LCFS, that will go into effect on July 1.
Some analysts predict the price of gas will rise by 65 cents as a result of the new standard. Meister is sending his letter to Governor Gavin Newsom and local state legislators.
The new Low Carbon Fuel Standard was approved by the California Air Resources Board last fall. “I am writing to voice my strongest possible opposition to the California Air Resources Board’s adopted amendments to the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), which are projected to raise gasoline prices by an additional 65 cents per gallon beginning July 1, 2025,” Meister wrote.
