WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Just a few hours before the Crosscutters home opener in Lycoming County against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, sunshine replaced the rain.

"Now an hour before game time or so we've got sunny skies, partly sunny skies, we're ready to rock,” said Gabe Sinicropi, the vice president of marketing for the Crosscutters.

It didn't last.

By two innings into the game, the rain came back and cut short the Crosscutters’ home opener. They'll try again Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

That was always a possibility. The Crosscutters took precautions.

"We covered it last night, in anticipation of any overnight rain, took it off this morning, and it's been on and off a couple of times during the day today, whatever it takes to get the game in, we're doing it,” said Sinicropi.
