PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates came out on top in a battle of the bullpens Friday, with Nick Gonzales delivering a walk-off sacrifice fly to beat the Phillies at PNC Park, 5-4 .

Pirates starter Bailey Falter, who was coming off of a month of May where he posted a 0.76 ERA over six starts, was pulled in the fourth inning of a 2-2 game with the bases loaded and two outs. Trea Turner ended up cashing in against reliever Chase Shugart, delivering a two-run single to give the Phillies a 4-2 edge, but Shugart limited the damage to just that hit.

From there, the bullpen shut down the Phillies’ offense, tossing 5 1/3 innings without a run being charged to a reliever. Shugart, Caleb Ferguson and Dennis Santana each recorded at least four outs, while David Bednar tossed a scoreless ninth.
