MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Mercedes formed a sister city agreement with Ramos Arizpe, located in Coahuila, Mexico. At 6:30 p.m., representatives from Ramos Arizpe gathered at the Mercedes Dome Shelter to sign the agreement at a city management meeting. "It will enable us to coordinate and communicate with possible investors both ways, we have plenty of property, open land. We are looking at growing on the industrial side or the commercial side," said Alberto Perez, City Manager of Mercedes. "More than likely, on our side, we will be looking for what industries are looking to relocate, possibly. We are looking for those types of jobs since we want to make sure we increase the opportunities for the residents of Mercedes and the Rio Grande Valley."
