GRINNELL, Kan (KSNW) — Nearly three weeks after a tornado tore through Grinnell, the debris is largely cleared. Foundations where homes once were are now empty lots ready to be built on. But because of an issue with insurance, some are being left in the dust of recovery.

KSN caught up with John Kraus and Julie Herbeck in the immediate aftermath of the tornado.

"Not much left of it," Kraus said two days after. "It was over in a matter of a minute."

The once two-story home, mostly reduced to a single floor. The living room looked more like an obstacle course.

"Every week when we go out there to get our mail, we look at our house and it has not changed from the day the tornado hit," Kraus said in a phone interview with Julie Friday.
