Award-winning UK campsite has a ski slope, giant sand pit and woodland views

A campsite offering an "off-grid adventure" near Bristol has been named among the best in the country.

Mendip Basecamp in Somerset has taken silver in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, in the category of 'camping, glamping and holiday park of the year'.

The campsite, which was set up in response to the covid lockdowns, is located on the Mendip Activity Centre site and has access to a huge array of activities from skiing to stand-up paddleboarding, set among a 250-acre ancient woodland estate.
