DENVER -- No sooner had Francisco Lindor broken his pinky toe earlier this week in Los Angeles than he began lobbying Mets manager Carlos Mendoza to let him keep playing. Once the break was confirmed, Mendoza was insistent: Lindor would sit out Thursday’s series finale against the Dodgers.

Friday, Lindor was once again sidelined for the first game of a series against the Rockies. But Mendoza hinted before the game that Lindor might be available sooner rather than later, should the Mets need him.
