Karmen Miller struck out more than 800 batters in her Brook Hill career.
On Friday night, she added six more strikeouts in two innings to earn the save as Red took a 6-4 win over Blue in the Northeast Texas Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Softball Game at Tyler Legacy High School.
“It felt good to strike the last girl out to make sure the game was over,” Miller said. “And that was the last pitch of my career.”
Before taking over in the circle for the eighth and ninth innings, Miller played first base.
“It was great to play first base,” Miller said. “I haven’t played there in a while.”
Miller came in with a 5-4 lead in the eighth and immediately got a strikeout. After Chloe Ellis (Henderson) reached on an error, Miller struck out two more batters to end the inning.
