PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The teen accused of planning a mass shooting and bombing at a mall in Kelso appeared in a Columbia County court for the first time on Friday. While cameras were not allowed, both the defense and the prosecution revealed extensive new details about the suspect’s past and how the FBI was able to connect him to the alleged plot on Three Rivers Mall in Kelso.
The 14-year-old, who isn’t being named due to his status as a minor, appeared via Zoom and quickly pleaded not guilty to several charges including attempted murder and attempted assault. He appeared very young, wearing a green t-shirt and looking nervous as his charges were read out in court for the first time.
His parents appeared in person alongside the teen’s defense attorney, Chris Heywood.
