UFC legend and upcoming Hall of Fame inductee Amanda Nunes is unretiring two years after she left the sport in June 2023, she announced Thursday.
Nunes, 37, said she plans to fight the winner of the women’s bantamweight title bout between Julianna Peña and Kayla Harrison at UFC 316 on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.
“I’m here, I’m back,” Nunes told New York Post Sports on Thursday. “The division is exciting. Now I’m going to jump in again and it’s going to get even more exciting.”
Nunes and Peña have previously split a pair of women’s bantamweight title bouts, with Peña winning in December 2021 and Nunes winning the rematch in July 2022. Nunes and Harrison, former American Top Team training partners, have never fought each other in a professional match.
“Yeah, I’m ready,” Nunes said.
