In what can only be described as a stunning legislative maneuver, Ohio’s Senate is pushing forward budget provisions that would legalize political bribery in the state, and the Today in Ohio podcast says that will end representational government.

The alarming development comes in the aftermath of the HB6 scandal – the largest bribery scheme in Ohio history – yet instead of strengthening ethics laws, lawmakers appear to be dismantling them entirely.

“This version of the Senate budget would eliminate the state ban on corporations and labor unions making independent expenditures for or against political candidates,” said Laura Johnston. “And it would end contribution limits to independent dark money groups.”
