When a Good Samaritan spotted a severely matted and neglected dog wandering the streets near a school in Pembroke Pines, Florida, they felt devastated.

The twelve-year-old dog, later named Clara, was in a terrible state, starving and dehydrated. She couldn’t walk properly due to an injury and her fur was covered in fleas and worms.

The doggo was blind and her eyes were swollen.

The kind person immediately reached out to Pembroke Pines Police. The officers scanned Clara and found a microchip that was about to reveal a heartbreaking truth.

Having learned that Clara had an owner who lived in Fort Lauderdale, the police contacted them and told them that they had found their dog.

The officers expected that Clara’s family would be thrilled, but they were wrong.
