REDDING, Calif. - Criminal proceedings against Robert Milton were reinstated after he returned from Napa State Hospital, restored to competency.
According to the Shasta County District Attorney's Office, Milton faced charges including murder and battery on a peace officer linked to his neighbor's death.
Authorities arrested Milton in August of 2024 in connection to the shooting death of William Dressler in the area of Wilshire Drive and Brent Road.
In September of 2024, the court suspended proceedings due to doubts about Milton's mental competency.
Two doctors evaluated Milton, and in October of 2024, the court found him unable to proceed.
Milton was transferred to and received treatment at Napa State Hospital, leading to his restored competency to stand trial for murder.
