OROVILLE, Calif. - Two women have been arrested and charged in connection to the abduction of two boys from Chico.

43-year-old Erin Rae of Klamath Falls, Oregon, was taken into custody at the Butte County Oroville courthouse on Wednesday. She faces charges of parental child custody interference and abduction.

The boys, ages 9 and 11, were the subject of a missing alert issued by Chico Police on May 30, 2025. The alert came after the boys left their father's Chico home late at night.

The Butte County District Attorney's Office says that the custody battle between Rae and her former husband has been ongoing since 2020. A Butte County judge had recently switched custody to the father, citing Rae's violations of visitation orders.
