On Saturday at 4:36 a.m. a flash flood warning was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 7:45 a.m. for Cortland County.

"At 4:36 a.m., local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar has estimated up to 2 inches of rain has fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring with reports of flooded roads in the area," states the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."

Locations impacted by the warning include Cortland, Homer, Preble, Scott, Truxton, Cuyler, Taylor, East Homer, Deruyter, Baltimore, Cortland West, Union Valley and Como. Locally heavy rain will continue for the next 1-2 hours.
