We were pleased to see an article in the Daily Times on June 2 spotlighting the William Penn School District’s funding issues as we await the state budget. We hope we receive the funds needed to fully support our programming for the 2025–2026 school year.

However, upon reading the full article, it was disheartening to see a complex financial crisis reduced to finger-pointing, insinuations, and selective outrage.

The district has been clear: We are facing drastic program and staffing cuts because Pennsylvania has systematically underfunded schools like ours for decades.

A 2023 Commonwealth Court ruling affirmed what our families have long known: that the state’s funding system is unconstitutional.
