CJ Allen Top 50 CFB

The college football world never sleeps. Spring ball has wrapped up, and the transfer portal is dormant, but fall training camps are looming, and anticipation is growing for the 2025-26 college football season.

There are new faces in new places, and players are expected to step up and become the face of their program, if not the sport entirely. Those players are detailed in College Wire's top 50 players.

With the list continuing onward, the next man up at No. 44 is Georgia Bulldogs linebacker CJ Allen.

Overview of CJ Allen's role at Georgia

After being thrust into the starting lineup in 2023, Allen was a full-time starter at inside linebacker last season. He started 12 of 14 games for the Bulldogs, and he's one of the top returners in 2025 on a Georgia defense that loses quite a bit of production as he's expected to assume that role yet again.

CJ Allen's College Career

Allen was a regular contributor as a true freshman in 2023, appearing in all 14 games, but he became a starter for the final five games of the season due to an injury to Jamon Dumas-Walker, ultimately earning SEC All-Freshman honors. He entered 2024 as a starter, and he ultimately finished second on the team with 76 tackles (three for loss) an interception and five pass breakups.

Division I Stats:

117 total tackles | 70 solo tackles | 5.5 TFL | 1 sack | 5 PD | 1 INT

Performance Analysis for Allen

Despite having a productive season, Allen had to share time with first-round draft pick Jalon Walker as part of an inside linebacker group that also featured fifth-rounder Smael Mondon Jr. Now, he should be a leader for a slightly less experienced Georgia defense than we're used to seeing in recent years, bringing multiple years of starting experience to the table.

Future Prospects for Allen

Allen has seen his draft stock rise this offseason, and as he enters his junior campaign in 2025, he's largely projected as a first-round pick by most early mock drafts. This could be a breakout campaign for him in Athens, so it wouldn't be all that surprising to see his stock rise even higher than the late Day 1 projections he is currently receiving

Background and Recruitment

A Georgia native from Lamar County Comprehensive in Barnesville, Georgia, was a four-star prospect and the No. 4 player in the state. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he was the No. 70 overall player and No. 5 linebacker nationally.
