There is so much road construction going on all over Lufkin. The only issue lately is that it has all been paid for by TXDOT. Now, the Lufkin City Council has approved a program to repair 35 streets.
Billed as the 2025 Street Overlay program, it will goop some new sticky black asphalt onto about 40,000 feet of road, or approximately seven and a half miles of road. Many city streets could use some improvement, but the city collaborated with a Dallas company, NEXCO, to come in and find the worst of the worst.

Now that they have determined which streets are in need of repair, the next step is to fire up the asphalt machines and get to work on the roads. Lufkin's very own street department is going to do the improvements.
