WASHINGTON — America must always be thinking one step ahead of the competition, said U.S. Sen. Todd Young, of Indiana, as he was hosted by Chris Miller of the American Enterprise Institute in Washington this week for a discussion on national security.

“We do need talent. We need to send an unambiguous policy message that we are optimizing our system of legal immigration to get the most talent,” said Young.

His focus lately has been on building back America’s shipbuilding prowess since China has a gigantic edge as far as global shipping of products.

Young said it is necessary that the U.S. as a country, relearn shipbuilding skills.
