Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart says he has held talks with Leeds United officials since the takeover involving 49ers Enterprises.

However, these chats were not to do with transfers and the insistence remains that the Scottish giants will not become a “feeder” club.

The consortium - led by US businessman Andrew Cavenagh and which the 49ers are part of - completed its majority-stake takeover of Rangers last week , with Leeds chief Paraag Marathe becoming vice-chairman.

The 49ers have insisted that their commitment to United remains unchanged and that what happens north of the border will not impact plans in Yorkshire. There will be some hierarchical crossover between the two clubs.
