Forecasters predict the capital is set for four hours of continuous thunder storms on Saturday, June 7.

According to BBC Weather , Edinburgh will experience lightning and rain throughout most of the afternoon from 2pm until 7pm.

Temperatures will remain steady at 13C with dreich conditions continuing well into the evening and early hours of Sunday morning.

The Met Office had previously issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for England and Wales which came into effect at 9am on Saturday morning.

However no weather warning has yet been issued for Edinburgh or Scotland's Central Belt.

Residents of and visitors to the city will be able to look forward to a reprieve on Sunday morning with sunshine forecast from 6am until 10am.
