Pope Leo XIV met Argentine President Javier Milei on Saturday in the Vatican Apostolic Palace.
According to a note from the Vatican press office, Pope Leo XIV and Milei discussed "matters of common interest, such as social-economic progress, the fight against poverty, and the commitment to social cohesion," and particular attention was paid to ongoing conflicts "noting the importance of an urgent commitment in support of peace."
After his meeting with Pope Leo, the Argentine President met with the Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by the Reverend Msgr. Mirosław Wachowski, Under-Secretary for Relations with States.
Following his visit to Italy, Milei was expected to continue his European tour in Spain and France.
