PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Two adults, four children and two dogs were displaced from their home Friday evening around 6 p.m. following a residential structure fire on the 100 block of Kings Gate Dr.

Portsmouth Fire and the Chesapeake Fire Department arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the front of the structure. The smoke alarms alerted the occupants of the fire and no one was injured.

The fire is ruled to be accidental, due to unattended cooking on the stove.
