People on Universal Credit with health issues could get up to £1,149 each month from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). People who claim Personal Independence Payment can get thousands from the DWP if they have an illness, disability or mental health condition.

But be warned: the Labour Party government is planning PIP cuts and reforms, meaning your benefit could theoretically be at risk from November, when the changes are anticipated to kick in.

If you’re a single claimant, over the age of 25, the standard allowance is £400.14 a month - combined with PIP, this means a total benefit payment of £1,149.94 each month.
