KELSO, Wash. (KATU) — The suspect arrested after allegedly planning an elaborate mass shooting attack at Three Rivers Mall in Kelso, Wash., has been identified as a 14-year-old boy.

FBI agents and local law enforcement partners held a press conference on Thursday announcing the arrest and details on the investigation.

According to the FBI, agents first learned of the plot back on May 19 after the teen spoke about the plan in online nihilistic extremist chat groups. The next day, on May 20, investigators identified the suspect as a juvenile living in Columbia County.
