Bryan De La Cruz opened the scoring for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Friday night in a 5-1 win over St. Paul. He crushed a 2-0 pitch from Saints pitcher Andrew Morris out to center field at CHS Field in Minnesota for a solo home run with two outs in the top of the second inning.
It continued a recent offensive surge for the 28-year-old outfielder from the Dominican Republic.
Since May 14th, De La Cruz has hit safely in 14 of 16 games, batting .339 during that span (21-for-62) with four doubles, three home runs, and 15 RBI. He has six multi-hit games, including a three-hit performance on June 1st against the Worcester Red Sox that included a three-run home run.
“If you had a trending meter, he’s been trending up and up for a while now,” RailRiders manager Shelley Duncan said
