Armed police were deployed to a town centre street after reports of up to 20 people involved in a disturbance which saw a man chased from a vehicle into a property.

Lincolnshire Police said it was investigating unconfirmed rumours that a firearm was among weapons involved in the “very frightening” incident in Spalding, which saw a parked Volvo car damaged with golf clubs and bats.

Officers were called at 10.42pm on Friday to “reports of crowds of people making threats and damaging a vehicle” in Station Street, and chasing a man from his vehicle into a property while threatening him with weapons.
