A 30-year-old man is wanted for allegedly attacking a shopkeeper in order to take off with stolen merchandise from a downtown store.

Toronto Police say officers responded to the violent retail robbery near Queen St. W. and Beverley St. – just east of Spadina Ave. – shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday.

It is alleged that a man entered a store, selected multiple items and attempted to flee the store without paying, Const. Viktor Sarudi said in a statement released Saturday.

While escaping, he said the thief assaulted a staff member causing “serious injuries.”

The man then took off.

Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and have release his photo hoping the public can help track him down.

Liam Nisbet, of Toronto, is wanted for robbery and assault causing bodily harm.
