Jason Simmons will lead the North Carolina Republican Party for another two years, party members decided Saturday.
North Carolina Republicans met Saturday in Greensboro to elect a chair and vice chairs, which direct state party operations and play a critical role in fundraising, messaging and campaigning. Members reelected Simmons over challenger Brooke McGowan. Simmons won with 53% of the vote. There were about 1,600 delegates.
“It is my honor to serve as state chairman, and I’m filled with gratitude to be elected for a second term," Simmons said in a statement Saturday. "I look forward to continuing to work alongside each and every North Carolina Republican."
