TREMONT ( 25News Now ) - Inflation and newly introduced tariffs have caused the price of goods and services to increase across America, but the price of a flightless bird in Tremont is staying the same.

The Tremont Turkey Festival draws thousands of families from around Central Illinois each year to enjoy a perfectly cooked turkey in a variety of ways.

This year, one turkey sandwich, a bag of chips, and a pop cost a total of $10. Based on that price, a family of three would spend about $30 to fill everyone up.

Rich McLaughlin from Mossville, who ate lunch at the festival with his wife and grandson, said the price isn’t bad.

“I thought it’d be more. I thought it’d be a couple bucks more per sandwich, but it wasn’t, so I was happy,” said McLaughlin.
