A 21-year-old man was found dead in the trunk of a car at Riverbends Park Saturday morning.

According to Shelby Township Firefighters, the man was discovered at approximately 10:40 a.m. and suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle.

After firefighters discovered the body, they immediately called Shelby Township police officers to the scene and their preliminary investigation determined that the man had been deceased for at least seven hours before he was found.

No other information has been released about the victim.

This is an active investigation and is ongoing.
