LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - On Saturday, volunteers, community members and leaders were all wearing orange, as part of the wear orange weekend and national gun violence awareness day.

The event serves as a way to remember the one who have fallen victim to gun violence, and to “[elevate] the voices demanding and end to this crisis,” according to a release from Greater Lansing Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense.

“A lot of people, you know, they lose somebody and we remember them for two weeks, right. So everybody wears their t-shirts for two weeks, and then after those two weeks are over, no one remembers you...This is more of, were going to say, start putting our foot down, and say, ‘let’s remember these people that have passed away’,” Terrance Cooper, President of People Ready Activating Youth
