Standing up to the slings of bigotry, giving rise to a national movement, and being killed in the line of duty doesn’t live up to the U.S. Navy’s “warrior ethos.”

That was the unmistakable message from the Pentagon as news emerged last week that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the Navy to strip Harvey Milk’s name from the supply ship christened in his honor.
