Newly-launched Durie’s Boxing Promotions made history on Saturday night when they had two fighters win on the club’s ring debut.
Formerly Durie’s Amateur Boxing Club, head coach Archie Durie coached Garry Cowan and Shahzman Parnez to victory in fights during SK Promotion’s event at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow.
Cowan won on points against Shaka Dumble, while Cambuslang fighter Parnez beat Ross Carrigan.
Durie has adopted ‘white collar’ coaching and turned his back on amateur boxing and severed an 18-year association with Boxing Scotland over a fall-out that ultimately led to Archie being suspended.
The coach has also given up his premises in Blairbeth and moved to King’s Park Parish Church three nights a week.
Durie said: “Things have been really crazy for myself for the past y
