A dad who faced life in a wheelchair or a double amputation has turned his life around through bodybuilding . John Nixon, 45, was cruelly nicknamed ‘Slug Feet’ and ‘Chicken Legs’ at school. Smaller and weaker than his peers , even his friends mimicked the way he walked. It wasn’t until he was 12 that John was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a rare inherited neurological condition affecting the peripheral nerves. It causes muscle wasting, foot deformities , weakness, and pain and - for many - is degenerative.
