The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a warning after a California-based egg company recalled brown eggs sold in seven states.

The August Egg Company has recalled 1.7 million dozen brown eggs and brown certified organic eggs because they could be contaminated with salmonella. The eggs were sold to restaurants and retailers in New Mexico, Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Nevada, Washington and Wyoming. They were available at retail locations including Walmart, Save Mart, FoodMaxx, Lucky, Smart & Final, Safeway, Raleys, Food 4 Less and Ralphs. Advertisement

According to August Egg Company, the eggs were sold with sell-by dates from March 4, 2025, to June 19, 2025. The recalled eggs will have a plant code number P-6562 or CA5330 printed on the carton
