The new Duck Creek Regional Library at 22 S. Main St. is replacing the former Smyrna Public Library a block away at 107 S. Main St.
The new library is about 22,000 square feet, compared with the former library, which had about 2,500 square feet on its main floor in addition to a basement.
The new building also marks a change in how the library is operated, no longer by the town but by the library's own operating board, with some changes in funding.
While it’s just a block north of the former library, the new library in Smyrna feels worlds away.
