Each month, the Columbia Public Library offers selections from its collection related to a current best-seller or hot topic. One Read co-chairs Kat Stone Underwood and Lauren Williams compiled this month’s selections.
This year’s One Read selection, Daniel Mason’s “North Woods” (Random House, 2023) , follows an extraordinary succession of inhabitants of a single house in the woods of New England, exploring the many ways we’re connected to our environment and to one another across time, language and space. This work of historical fiction narrowly beat out Nikki Erlick’s work of magical realism, “The Measure” (William Morrow, 2022) , in a public vote.
