Tom Hiddleston is opening up about the highs and lows of life after he and fiancée Zawe Ashton confirmed that they are expecting their second baby.

"On the path of life, we encounter hardship and loss and pain and grief," Hiddleston, 44, told SXSW London reporters during the closing night premiere of The Life of Chuck on Saturday, June 7. "Those things are real, but we also encounter joy, and it's the joy that we hold onto, which becomes the courage we need when it feels like the world is falling apart."

He added, "Actually, that joy, which is deep and real, is the love that we shared from the people [who] raised us."

Hiddleston stepped out on Saturday with Ashton, 44, who debuted her pregnancy in a blue, ruffled Emilia Wickstead gown with a coordinating cape.
