Augusta’s levee holds back disaster level flooding

The Butler County Emergency Management Agency, (EMA), stated on Thursday that the rivers have reached their crest and clean-up is underway.
The Walnut River in El Dorado reached a crest of 21.31 ft on Tuesday, June 3, which in turn caused flash flooding throughout the northern parts of El Dorado. Specifically, the neighborhoods including Riverside on North Main Street between 8th and 12th avenues, Topeka to Lawndale, and 8th to McCollum were all given voluntary evacuation notices with emergency rescue operations taking place.
Several residents and their pets were rescued via boat. An emergency shelter was provided for those evacuation the Butler County Community Building and one at Temple Baptist Church
