LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KOLO) - The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal car vs. pedestrian incident that started inside a Las Vegas garage on Saturday, June 7, according to an agency news release.

At 3 p.m., 32-year-old Catherine Godenzi was in the driver’s seat of a car at 9645 Marigny Court and the garage door was open.

John Godenzi, 73, was standing between the driver and the open car door.

For unknown reasons, the vehicle began to back out of the garage and down the driveway, according to witness statements, video and other evidence.

This trapped John Godenzi between the door and the vehicle, the news release said.

He was then knocked to the ground, the news release said.

The vehicle continued to reverse across the road before hitting a light pole.
