INDIANAPOLIS — A near north side Kroger was closed Sunday afternoon after an incident involving gunfire in the store's parking lot, a company spokesperson said.

Online police dispatch records say IMPD officers were called to the store, 524 East 16th Street, on a report of shots fired just after 2 p.m.

Windows at the front of the store were damaged in the incident but there were no reports of injuries.

Police have not shared details about the investigation.

A Kroger spokesperson provided the following information:

The safety of our associates and customers is our top priority, so we are troubled by this senseless violence, and we are relieved no one was injured. The store is closed for the moment while we repair damaged glass. The Kroger Asset Protection team is at the store assisting
