The latest: Newsom accused Trump in social media posts of "escalating the situation by threatening to deploy roughly 500 active-duty Marines to the streets of Los Angeles as he urged protesters to remain peaceful. • U.S. Northern Command in a Sunday evening statement said some 500 were prepared to deploy if called upon to do so.
